Military Efficiency in a South Florida Contractor
Mar 04, 2014Last month, the Istueta team traveled to Orlando for the CCN Winter Conference where we spent two days with other great companies from across the nation and participated in discussions and workshops. There was a lot of great material and some excellent opportunities to pick each other’s brains.
But the highlight of the event was the group of keynote speakers from the Corps Group. The Corps Group works with businesses for training and consulting and is made up of former military leaders who use their experience in the military to train companies on high-performance execution.
Some of the topics we went over were increasing performance levels, improving discipline without being a drill sergeant, and developing into a more effective and efficient organization.
But the best part was the activity!
During our session we participated in an exercise where we were broken into teams of 14-16 people from other companies and given a mission. To accomplish it, we had to create a plan and use teamwork to achieve our goals. To wrap it all up, we learned about effective debriefing.
Luckily, we weren’t required to drop and give anyone 20.
Needless to say, we learned some great information and fully plan on implementing a lot of what we learned in production.
I’m hoping to have the rest of the team saluting and addressing me with “Sir, yes sir!” but I’m not sure I’ll be able to get them on board. Either way, what an incredibly fun and educational exercise!
